A Niche in Istanbul

-
My favorite spot of all time! A republic in a republic. The fancy shopping culture in its Paris-like streets and among art nouveau apartment buildings. Plenty of nice local shops and restaurants as well as big names like Prada, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Harvey Nichols, Gucci, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Ermenegildo Zegna, Escada, Armani... ... ... And, usually livelier at night.

I was walking the Abdi Ipekçi Street
in this upscale residential area that's the most expensive place of the ''country'', not only Istanbul. Here's look at some spots I photographed in the decorated street and its posh neighborhood of Nişantaşı:

New Year open-air celebration with parties is newly becoming traditional here alternative to the celebration at more crowded Taxim Square.

Yes, I love, love, love this district in the European side!

If Santa really loved me, he would make me a resident of this fashionable quarter of Nişantaşı:)

  1. Don't forget to ask Santa for an unlimited credit card when you're a new resident of this neighbourhood! You'd have wonderful shopping sessions there! Thanks for the pics, Nihal. They look beautiful!

  2. Ooh, I can see why you love this part of the city. It is absolutely gorgeous.

Those red packages decorating the outside of one store - that is my favorite.

I'll help you wish for Santa to move you here. But, I also you hope you have happy and magical days in your home now.

  4. Nihal, what a fine walk in the Abdi Ipekçi Street. I can see why you like this part of Istanbul, so full of smart shops, residential houses, colored decorations. A similar zone in Turin could be the area of the arcades (there are about 14km of arcades in the whole town!) from Piazza Castello, to via Roma, Piazza San Carlo and the nearby streets.
    Have a beautiful day!
